Highlights
Here are some personal highlights from the blog!
In Blood on the Clocktower: Misregistration and the Power of "Might" in TTRPGs , I talk about the social deduction game Blood on the Clocktower, and how two of its mechanics (both in the Recluse character) highlight some unexplored design space in TTRPGs.
In Biosphere Guardians 2025 - A Review , I review Biosphere Guardians, a solarpunk TTRPG about hope and community made by youth groups across Europe. I'm now close friends with Tom and some of the other members involved with the project, so I look back on this review very fondly.
In The Opposite of a Haunted House , I talk about Encanto, Howl's Moving Castle, and houses that love you instead.
In How to Build a World like Breath of the Wild , I analyse how Breath of the Wild uses each of its historical eras to flesh out its world, and how that can be recreated in TTRPGs (for both players and designers).
In Design Diary - ABODE 2e , I go in-depth on the process of making my game 'ABODE 2e'. I go through my inspirations for the game, and talk about how it feels to be making a 2nd edition for the first time.
In How Wanderhome Mechanises Animism , I discuss the depiction of anamism in Jay Dragon's Wanderhome, and how the Small and Forgotten Gods and the game's natures mechanic feel cohesive with the Japanese, Native American and Celtic cultures and fiction that inspired the game.
